Pride Volunteer

Help represent and raise awareness about akt at Pride events across the country!

We are pleased to announce akt will have a presence at various Pride events across the country this summer and we’d love for you to be involved!

From walking in a parade or chatting to people about our work on a stall, there’s various events and roles available to help raise awareness about akt and the work we do to support LGBTQ+ young people who are homeless or living in a hostile environment.

We will be attending Pride events primarily in locations close to our offices and we are looking for volunteers who can support within travelling distance of these.

what will i be doing?

  • Dependent on the event you may be walking in a parade wearing an akt t-shirt, waving a flag and soaking up the atmosphere!
  • At events where we will have an information stall you’ll be chatting to the public about akt, raising awareness about our work and engaging new supporters in what we do – a full briefing about our services and our key messages will be given.
  • At some events (e.g. Manchester Pride) we will have volunteers helping out at other points across the weekend e.g. the pre-parade breakfast and at Youth Pride.
  • Once we know which event you’re interested in we’ll provide more details of what will happen on the day.

All volunteers will be invited to an online volunteer induction and an event-specific briefing so you know what to expect. Please download one of the full volunteer role descriptions below for more information on roles on the day, accessibility and what you will gain from the experience.
