We’re so grateful for all the love and support you’ve shown us over the last few weeks.

akt is currently pausing our volunteer programme as we know it.

This is in response to changing operational needs and opportunities as a result of COVID-19. We hope that normal service will resume as soon as is safely possible for us all.

The vast majority of our volunteering is face-to-face or events-based which unfortunately isn't possible at the moment.

Our [email protected] inbox will be monitored, so do feel free to contact us with questions or queries, however we might struggle to respond as quickly as normal.

If you’d like to register your interest in future volunteering, please fill out this short expression of interest form. We will be in touch as soon as we are back up and running with volunteering opportunities. Given the current situation however this may be in several months’ time.

Below is some more information and ideas about what else you can do to support akt during lockdown.

Why has the volunteering programme been ‘paused’? At the moment, we need to focus on providing direct services and support to young people and ensure this is our highest operational priority. Due to the ongoing situation, we're also unable to provide face-to-face volunteering opportunities, which is the vast majority of our volunteering roles.

Is akt not taking on new volunteers? There might be projects where we could use additional help and support, we would never say never. However, the programme and its processes are taking a pause for now in light of the above

How else can we support akt in the mean time? We would love for you to help with our lockdown fundraising efforts. Here’s how. You can also support our emergency appeal #aktogether with donating what you’d normally spend on transport, a membership or a coffee

Is there a way of supporting you that doesn’t involve fundraising or donating? Help spread the word about what we do. You can signal-boost our campaigning efforts and encourage people to engage with our #aktogether digital programme over on Instagram

What happens if we know a young person who needs support? We are continuing to support LGBTQ+ young people aged 16-25 who are facing homelessness or who are living in hostile or abusive environments. Our services are running virtually and we are still providing casework to new clients. Please click here to find out more or click here to make a referral

When will the programme be up and running again? We hope to be back to normal as soon as is safely possible. We're looking forward to working with our incredible team of volunteers again and raising awareness of our important work to the wider community. However, these are unprecedented times, so we’d ask for your patience while we all wait to see what happens next.

How can I keep in touch with akt? You can sign-up to our new monthly akt now newsletter here, and follow us on @aktcharity (Twitter and Instagram) or search ‘akt charity’ on Facebook and LinkedIn
