Outreach Champions


Help raise awareness of the work of AKT so we can continue to support more LGBTQ+ homeless young people in crisis.


As an AKT Outreach Champion you will work under the supervision of the Services team to engage with a variety of local organisations and groups to raise awareness of the work of AKT to increase referrals into our services, and enquiries from potential mentors, hosts and new supporters of AKT. 

Suggested activities

  • Delivering pre-organised outreach activities e.g. volunteering on an AKT stall at an event, fair or Pride event
  • Approaching existing contacts to deliver outreach activities e.g. school assemblies, talks at colleges 
  • Research organisations to approach for outreach activities and organising sessions
  • Delivering AKT outreach with other local organisations 
  • Updating a centralised database of activity 

Useful previous experience/skills

  • Confidence speaking in front of groups of various sizes
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and issues faced
