Online youth practice forum | 28th November, 10.00am-11.45am | Free

We are living in an era where the rights of trans people are frequently and publicly attacked or ‘debated’. Two years on from the publication of our guidance “How homeless services can be more inclusive and support young trans people” we are holding this practice forum to consider what’s changed and what is needed to deliver effective support for young people accessing homelessness services.

This forum will involve guest presentations and break-out rooms which will be an opportunity to network with colleagues across the country, discuss the challenges we face and how we can overcome these challenges and improve our offer to young trans people. We will hear from:

Matt Waites Greater Manchester service manager at akt, a charity which supports LGBT+ young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Matt will be sharing learning from the Manchester Trans Pathway one year after its inception.

Moss from Loving Me, a domestic abuse service run buy and for the trans+ community. Offering support, advice and accommodation to victim / survivors of domestic abuse over 18 living in England.

There will be a presentation from young trans people who have accessed akt and Loving Me services.

We will also work in groups to explore allyship, advocacy and support, and how we can better work together to improve our offer to young trans people.
