In June, AKT spoke at the leading European policy conference on Homelessness hosted by FEANTSA.

This was part of our outreach work to be part of an international alliance of LGBTQ+ and homelessness organisations who want to share, learn and partner to prevent the worldwide homelessness crisis.

AKT believes homelessness is a denial of a basic human right and at the conference a United Nations representative echoed this view, stating that the member states of the UN are failing to address the basic human right to shelter.

Please watch out for our next edition of AKT NOW for updates on our advisory role to help the government shape their response to youth homelessness.

We are currently completing work on a study with Birmingham University to identify the full economic impact of homelessness on LGBTQ+ young people’s lives. We hope this will greatly help with our case for support when working with both policy makers and funders. Over summer Birmingham University will be completing our geographical scoping of need across the country, to identify where AKT might be needed next.
