I hope you are all keeping safe and well.

As I’m sure you can imagine we are very busy ensuring young people remain safe and supported during this challenging time. Despite a significant increase in demand for our services, especially from young people struggling in lockdown whilst living with hostile families, we have been able to use our new digital services to provide mentoring, support, advice and resources to young people to keep them safe and protect their mental health and wellbeing. We have also organised safe accommodation for those who cannot remain at home and financial support for those who have lost their jobs or are struggling to pay their rent.

"I don’t think I have ever felt as proud of our team and our supporters as I do right now."

The response by all our staff, volunteers and trustees to this challenge has been swift, comprehensive and truly amazing, and as a team we have adapted well to delivering our core offer to young people and our communication with supporters online through our digital platforms. I am also overwhelmed with the generosity of our new and existing supporters, who are helping akt to continue to deliver our services to vulnerable young people across the country.

I don’t think I have ever felt as proud of our team and our supporters as I do right now; thank you so much for making sure akt can provide safe homes and better futures to young people at this time when they need it most

With strong financial management and 78 pence in every pound being spent directly on delivering our services to young people we are in a good place to fight this challenge. However, I am very concerned that with significantly increased demand for our services likely to continue and the likelihood that the effects of the pandemic will last beyond this year, we may be unable to meet any further increase in demand for support or resume our plans to provide more Purple Door accommodation and deliver more physical services nationally. With this in mind I would greatly appreciate your help in raising awareness of our call for support at this time.

If you are willing and able to help, please share our #aktogether appeal across your social and professional digital channels by retweeting and sharing our posts on social media, and visiting our appeal page.

Thank you.
