At our first Youth Conference just 25 young people attended from Manchester and London. AKT was so happy to welcome over 60 people who attended this year from Scotland down to the south coast of England.

The focus of the day remained the same: to provide an opportunity to learn new skills, share views to influence change, and above all, have fun and build friendships. We brought together some incredible activists, writers and specialists in their field.

Intersectional identity is a theme which ran through some of our workshops; there was also a strong focus on trans young people’s journeys; a recognition of fluid gender identities; and we held the event in Black History month. All of this not only recognises that we are a diverse group of individuals, but also that we are all connected – which was the theme of this year’s conference.

AKT would like to thank our hosts Bloomberg, our sponsors Baker McKenzie and Channel 4, our wonderful AKT team and our panel and workshop facilitators.

Check out our Storify post to get a flavour of what was a wonderful day.

We'll be posting details about next year's Youth Conference, and how you can take part, just as soon as we know.
