On Thursday 17th October, we’re headed to Troxy for a fabulous 80s glamour-themed extravaganza, in association with east London’s favourite drag collective Sink The Pink (tickets available now).

Sink The Pink will be throwing Troxy’s doors open for us to welcome a host of 80s performers and familiar faces, including Coco Femme Fontaine, one of our fabulous supporting queens on the night.

We caught up with Coco ahead of October’s Gala to find out a bit more about her and what we can expect from her on the night!

For anybody who’s unfamiliar with Coco, what three words would you use to describe her?
Beautiful, talented and humble…

How did Coco come to get involved with akt?
When I’m not being the fabulous night creature that you see before you, I have an equally fabulous task of running the London Services at akt. I have the privilege of managing the services team who deliver the vital work we carry out as charity with young LGBTQ+ people.

What can people expect from your headline shows?
A bewitching spectacle of both camp and political commentary, Disney villain meets Gemma Collins. Actually, just come to my next show at Fontaine’s on the 7th September (tickets here).

You’re one of the hosts for this year’s akt Gala extravaganza, which is 80s themed and will mark the charity’s 30th birthday. What can we expect from your look on the night?
Marge Simpson’s Chanel suit. Think power dressing in pink sequins and big, beautiful crimped hair.

If you had to choose three 80s tracks for the playlist at the Gala, what would they be?
‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ by Whitney Houston
‘Love Is a Battlefield’ by Pat Benatar
‘Proud Mary’ Tina Turner

To anybody who’s thinking about attending on October 17th but who are still unsure, what would you say to convince them?
I’ll be there! What better way to help create safer homes and better futures for LGBTQ+ young people then to party with a bunch of drag queens and dance the night away to the 80s?
