We want any young person who may fall under the trans+ umbrella to know that there’s a place for you at akt.

A transgender person is someone whose gender identity differs from that typically associated with the sex they were assigned at birth.

Our impakt report found that 34% of the young people we supported in 2021-2022 identified as trans.

In this resource, we would like to take the time to highlight the support services that are available for those in the trans+ community.

is a trans-led charity that aims to improve the lives of trans and non-binary people in the UK, specialises in supporting young people.

is a national charity based in Manchester that provides trans+ services and resources.

is a charity that supports trans+ and gender-diverse children, young people and their families.

Spectra

is a peer-led trans+ service accessible to all trans and gender-diverse people, including 1-2-1 health advocacy support, and counselling, peer mentoring, referral and signposting to relevant partners, talks and workshops and monthly online and in-person social groups.

mental health helplines for the trans+ community

Mindline trans+

is an emotional and mental health support helpline for anyone who identifies as trans, non-binary, gender variant, and their families, friends, colleagues and carers. Their phone line is open Mondays and Fridays, 8pm to midnight. Ring 0300 330 5468.

Switchboard

is an LGBT+ helpline open to the trans+ community.

Galop

is a helpline that offers support to LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse and violence.

Indigo Gender Service (Manchester)

is an NHS adult gender service pilot in Greater Manchester, which has been commissioned to provide care that is local, timely and easier to access.

Leeds Gender Identity Service

offer appointments either by telephone, Attend Anywhere, (a virtual consultation platform) or face to face at the clinic.

Trans Plus (Dean St., London)

is the first integrated Gender, Sexual Health and HIV service commissioned by NHS England, based at 56 Dean Street.
