Volunteer
"Our first placement was very hard. Looking back we probably expected too much from someone who had been through so many hard times. Eventually we sorted things out. In many ways we achieved a massive amount" - John and David, carers.
As well as carers and mentors/befrienders there are also other volunteering opportunities with the Trust:
- We need Administrative Volunteers in our London office that is able to offer a couple of hours per week to help with office support.
- We need Pride , Mardi Gras and other events volunteers to help organise the smooth running of these events and the right amount of coverage. This would be in London and Manchester .
- We need volunteer qualified social workers that are able to assist with carer and mentor recruitment and training in London and Manchester .
- Graphic design volunteers to help keep our marketing/advertising up to date, professional and fun!
- Our supported lodgings London independent approvals panel needs members who have an awareness of the care system, fostering, supported lodgings and/or social work practice - this can include care leavers, social workers, carers etc.
- Volunteers who are able to spare a few hours leafleting at venues/events (e.g. Lesbian and Gay Film Festival) would be invaluable in raising the profile of the Trust.
- A Fundraising Volunteer is required to concentrate on looking after individual donors and developing events etc. We are looking for someone who can offer at least 3 hours per week.
There is a job description for every volunteer activity and the Trust will cover any out of pocket expenses.
