AKT’s Youth Conference - 30th October 2015

Give us your ideas and find out more about attending the event

Since 2008 AKT has held an annual youth conference for young people Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans people 18-25 who access our services. This is a great opportunity for bringing young people together with similar experiences into a fun environment of learning, peer sharing / support. Now we have launched our eMentoring service across the country we want to invite young people nationally to attend

The main purpose of the youth conference is to:

  • Provide a fun, learning and sharing environment where young people can spend time with their peers
  • Help young people develop important skills for life
  • Consult with young people on the forward direction of services at The Albert Kennedy Trust

How to get involved

We are currently asking young people for their ideas on what they want to do on the day. So please if you have any ideas get in touch with us by email harriet@akt.org.uk or our Facebook page: The Albert Kennedy Trust.

More Information

We have place for up to 50 young people

Here are some of our ideas on what we might include in the day:

  • Workshops and sessions on a range of topics to help young people build their skills and confidence
  • Fun activities
  • Dragons Den style event to help plan AKT’s future
  • Young Persons’ Question Time event: where young people get to ask a panel of Politicians and other leading figures questions

We are providing bursaries towards travel costs and, for young people more than 2 ½ hours travel away, we are providing accomodation the night before (please note: we only have limited funds available for accomodation).

We are just about to send out invitations to LGBT youth groups and organisations. So if you want to come along, send us the name and contact details for the group you attend so we can get in touch. If you have ideas on what we should be doing on the day please get in touch with us.
